HOURS: MON-FRI, 8 AM-8 PM

Its amenities include a fitness center staffed by a certified trainer and offering a 4-stack weight station, treadmills, recumbent and Commercial Elliptical Trainer, a Nu-step, dumbbell weights and weight bench. A variety of classes are offered year-round. The Center also offers excellent banquet facilities for lease that are suitable for your family and business celebrations -- receptions, trainings, retreats, reunions. Open to adults only, ages 21+, the AAC offers an affordable environment for socializing, fitness, wellness education, and fun leisure experiences. Call for information on rentals!

Thursday, 10:30 am - 12:00 pm. Ages 21+ . Pick up a new hobby today. Crochet is a creative, relaxing way to pass the time. Your instructor is Brenda Lown. Materials needed: Size K crochet hook, skein of yarn 4-ply. Free


Bridge
Monday, Tuesday, 12:30 - 5:30 pm. Ages 21+ . Some think of it as just a game of cards. We think of it as comraderie and a healthy way to compete. Belly Dancing
Thursday, 6:00 - 7:30 pm. Ages 21+ . Low-impact class designed to stimulate circulation, burn fat, build up your metabolism, and increase flexibility. Instructor is Helena Cottle. A minimum of 10 participants are required, so register early! $10/day or $48/6 weeks


A.M. Aerobics
Tuesday, Thursday, 9:30 - 10:30 am. Ages 21+ . Low-impact class designed to tone, increase flexibility and increase your metabolism. Instructor Marilyn Keenan. $25/6 weeks


P.M. Aerobics
Monday, Wednesday, 5:45 - 6:45 pm. Ages 21+ . Low-impact class designed to strengthen, condition the heart and burn fat. Instructor Marilyn Keenan. $25/6 weeks.


Salsa for Beginners
Monday, 6:00 - 7:30 pm. Ages 21+ . Never danced? Two left feet? No rhythm? No problem! Come alone or with a partner. No experience necessary; wear comfortable soft-soled shoes. This class is not only fun, but it contributes to weight loss, extra energy, and confidence. Instructor Joel Rodriguez. $35/6 weeks


Tai Chi
Monday, Ages 21+ . 9:30-10:30 am or 5:45-6:45 pm. Experience beautiful movements which will help you to achieve physical stamina, flexibility, and a clear state of mind. Instructor Ken Wallace. $5/class or $25/month


Yoga (AM)
Wednesday, 10:00 - 11:30 am. Ages 21+ . A strength and flexibility workout designed to improve balance and range of motion. This class also focuses on relaxation techniques and breathing. Instructor Maxine DuPuis. $60/6 weeks or $10/class

Fitness Room
8:00 am - 8:00 pm. Ages 21+ . Mon-Fri. Join the Fitness Center today! No contract and free fitness orientation with our certified trainer on all of the equipment including treadmills, elliptical trainers, stationary bikes, free weights and universal weight station. $20/month or $190/year


Introduction to Ballroom Dancing
Wednesday, 6:00 - 7:30 pm. Ages 21+ . Be ready to take to the dance floor for your next special occasion. Learn the basic steps, techniques and etiquette of two popular dances during this six-week class. Overcome the hesitation on the dance floor. Space is limited, please register early. Fit For A King Fitness
Tuesday, Thursday, 12:15 - 12:45 pm. Ages 21+ . Improve your overall health and physical fitness through body sculpting, cardio, and low-high impact aerobic activity. Instructor: Major Thomas Hundley (18 years military training and certified trainer, instructor, and nutritionist). Partnered with Dr. Ian Smith and The 50 Million Pound Challenge. $30/4 weeks


Salsa (Intermediate)
Tuesday, 6:00 - 7:30 pm. Ages 21+ . Enhance your Salsa experience by taking things to the next level. Come alone or with a partner. Wear comfortable clothes and soft-soled shoes. Shag Dancing
Tuesday, 7:00 - 8:00 pm. Ages 21+ . Begins July 8. Whether you're a beginner in need of basic steps or you're already shagging and need to brush up or learn new steps. Soul Line Dancing
Thursday, Ages 21+ . Beginners, 6:00-7:00 pm; Intermediate, 7:00-8:00 pm. Burn off those extra calories while learning the latest soul-line dances. A minimum of 10 participants are required, so register early! Instructor Sandra Thompson. $5/day, $20/month, $30/8 weeks (If you would like to participate in both classes pay only $8/day)

Trigger Point Chair Massage
9:00 am - 12:00 pm. Ages 21+ . July 7. Enjoy a relaxing 10-minute trigger point massage. Barbara Byess Jones will be here from Midlands Health Center to offer a chair massage. This is therapeutic muscle work designed to remove knots from within the muscles and to provide relief from tension, tightness, and pain. This can be done in work attire. 21st Annual Midlands Area Senior Games
Ages 50+ . September 22-25. Pre-register by September 1. A sports showcase for the many men and women who continue to play hard, stay fit and enjoy life into their retirement years! Events include bowling, track & field events, golf, swimming, tennis, and more. Events will be offered at various sites throughout the county, including LinRick Golf Course, Drew Wellness Center, Royal Z, Capital Senior Center at Maxcy Gregg Park and Meadowlake Park. The games are sanctioned by the South Carolina Senior Sports Classic. The awards ceremony and luncheon will be held on Thursday, September 25, 12:00 pm, at the Capital Senior Center, 1650 Park Circle. The Midlands Area Senior Games are co-sponsored by the Richland County Recreation Commission and the City of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department. The Financial Workshop for Individual Investors

The class will provide an in-depth look at the many different types of investments available to and suitable for investors who are working or retired. Palmetto Health Lifestyle University
Thursday, 1:30 - 3:30 pm. Ages 21+ . Lifestyle University is a six week program with the purpose of teaching you how to make healthier choices in your life. Learn how to make positive lifestyle changes through hands-on activities and group discussions. Improve areas of weight loss, smoking, eating, physical activity, and stress. Lower your blood pressure, work on your stress level, lose weight and eat better. The instructors include a physician, nurse practitioner, dietician, pharmacist, exercise counselor, stress management instructor, social worker, and community health advisors. Life Line Screening
8:30 - 5:30 pm. Ages 21+ . Friday, August 15, ages 21+. The Adult Activity Center will be hosting a day of preventative health screenings. The 4 tests offered include a state of the art ultrasound screening of the cartoid arteries (determine strokes) ultrasound screening of the abdominal aortic aneurysm (ruptured AAA's have a 85-94% mortality rate and present little or no symptoms), screening for plaque build-up in the arteries of the legs (strong indicator of coronary heart disease), and a bone density test screening for osteoporosis. "Why not just go to my doctor?" Most physicians cannot order these tests without clear evidence of symptoms. For those with AAA or stroke may never show signs of a medical event about to occur. Painless, non-invasive tests take about 10 minutes. YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER by calling 1-800-324-1851. $45/person (4 for $129)


Dance to the Music
Ages 21+ . Saturday, October 4. The Adult Activity Center and its dance instructors present: Dance to the Music - "Kickin' It Ol' Skool". Participate in the workshops and demonstrate your skills at the dance. $20 includes - 2 workshops: 11:00 a.m. -3:00 p.m. (lunch will be provided) & Dance: 7:00-11:00 p.m. (heavy hors d' oeuvres).
