The Recreation Commission offers great summer programs which provide children and young teens with unique and affordable opportunities. Enjoy fun summer activities in a safe environment with trained staff. This summer we are adding an educational enrichment component in order to address academic needs of our campers. While continuing to provide fun recreational activities such as swimming, exciting field trips, and creative art & crafts projects.
JUNIOR STAFF VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
Summer is just around the corner, and campers need help from people just like YOU! The JUNIOR STAFF VOLUNTEER PROGRAM is held each summer in conjunction with the Recreation Commission's Summer Camps. Teens who will be entering the 9th through 12th grades, who enjoy the summer camp environment - crazy games, messy crafts, fitness and sports, theater and art activities, fun trips, character and leadership discussions, and making new friends – and who are interested in assisting in the day-to-day workings of a camp, and who are truly interested in role modeling and ‘making a difference’ for young children, are given the opportunity to continue their emotional, social, and intellectual growth through leadership and work opportunities as a summer camp volunteer.
Students interested in the JSV Program, along with their parents, are invited to attend one of the informational meetings on either Tuesday, January 10th or Monday, January 16th at 5:30 pm. The meetings will be held at the Denny Terrace Community Center located at 6429 Bishop Avenue, Columbia, SC 29203. This will be the ONLY opportunity for you to receive an application to apply.
